Guangzhou's Huangpu to Launch Commercial Low-Altitude Passenger Flights Experience a "Flying Taxi" for the Price of a Premium Ride-Share

"Soon, we will officially launch a commercial low-altitude passenger flight project at the Suigang Wharf in Guangzhou, and the public will be able to book experiences online," revealed He Tianxing, Vice President of EHang. He noted that residents and tourists in Guangzhou will soon be able to fly in an autonomous passenger aircraft for about the price of a premium ride-hailing service. As a local enterprise in Guangzhou, EHang unveiled the world's first autonomous passenger aircraft in 2016. Its flagship product, the EH216-S, has secured the world's first Type Certificate (TC), Production Certificate (PC), and Standard Airworthiness Certificate (AC) for an autonomous electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, issued by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). It has also commenced operations under China's first batch of commercial operating qualifications for passenger-carrying autonomous eVTOLs. "After obtaining the first batch of national operating certificates for civil passenger-carrying autonomous aircraft in March 2025, we have been conducting extensive daily passenger flight tests and offering small-scale trial rides," He Tianxing explained. Over the past year, EHang's headquarters at the Suigang Wharf in Huangpu District, Guangzhou, has completed all safety assurance protocols for the entire commercialization process. The commercial sightseeing experience will open to the public soon. "We will introduce an approximately three-and-a-half-minute aerial sightseeing route at the Suigang Wharf. Passengers will be able to take in the beautiful scenery of Huangpu District from the air, while also overlooking the urban landscape of Dongguan across the river." "We are offering a surprise promotional ticket price for this launch, which is basically equivalent to the cost of booking a premium ride-share," He stated. EHang is actively planning and developing commercial low-altitude flight routes for Guangzhou and other areas within the Greater Bay Area. "As infrastructure such as takeoff and landing pads, as well as alternate landing sites, continues to increase, our low-altitude flight networks connecting the city will gradually take shape."
