Unused 6,000-Square-Meter Plot Becomes Pocket Park in Guangzhou’s Huangpu

After construction, a 250-meter walking path connects the neighborhood, green space and waterway.

A new pocket park has opened beside the Changchunteng Lüteng residential community in Yonghe Subdistrict, Huangpu District, Guangzhou. The park has transformed a 6,000-square-meter unused plot into a place where residents can stroll, sit, take photos and spend time with their children.

The slope beside the Yonghe River along Huafeng Road was once overgrown with weeds and had large patches of exposed soil. Now, more than 5,000 square meters of the slope have been covered with turf and planted with layers of shrubs. The landscaping helps protect the soil from erosion while making the area more pleasant for residents.
