France’s Veolia, a Fortune Global 500 company, recently signed a tripartite cooperation agreement with Science City (Guangzhou) Investment Group Co., Ltd. and Guangzhou Lianyou Energy Co., Ltd. in Guangzhou Development Zone, Huangpu District.
The agreement focuses on a zero-carbon project to capture and utilize industrial flue gas from carbon black production at Lianyou’s Phase III project. With a planned total investment of nearly RMB 120 million, construction is expected to begin in October this year, with trial operations scheduled to start in June 2027.
Dedicated ancillary facilities will be built at Lianyou’s plant to capture and recover resources from the high-temperature flue gas generated during carbon black production. Once operational, the project is expected to reduce electricity costs for Lianyou’s Phase III operations by 10% to 30% and cut annual carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 200,000 tonnes.
