Guangzhou Development District Launches “Spring Rain Initiative” Transformation Service Alliance

Recently, the launch ceremony of the “Spring Rain Initiative” Transformation Service Alliance of Guangzhou Development District was held at Guangzhou International Bio Island in Guangzhou. The event also featured a project signing ceremony, the unveiling of the “One Bio-station, Multiple Parks” initiative, and project roadshows.

Guided by the Guangdong Provincial Medical Products Administration, the event was attended by representatives from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) Greater Bay Area Center for Medical Devices, relevant government departments of Guangdong Province, Guangzhou Municipality and Huangpu District, the alliance’s first batch of member organizations, “One Bio-station, Multiple Parks” industrial parks, medical institutions and enterprises. The establishment of the alliance marks a new stage of systematic collaboration in the transformation of medical device innovations from research and development to clinical application across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

At the event, the “Spring Rain Initiative” Transformation Service Alliance of Guangzhou Development District was officially launched. The alliance’s first batch of members consists of 20 organizations, including industry associations, industrial funds and investment institutions, technology transfer platforms, CXO organizations, testing institutions, and review and evaluation bodies.

The “Spring Rain Initiative” is an important initiative launched by the NMPA to promote the transformation of original innovations in medical devices. According to a relevant official from Guangzhou Development District, the establishment of the alliance will further integrate resources and strengths from government departments, medical institutions, research platforms, industrial funds, technology transfer organizations, medical device companies and industrial parks. It will build a one-stop, full-chain service platform covering the entire process from innovation discovery, proof of concept and prototype development to investment and financing matchmaking, registration applications and commercialization.

During the unveiling ceremony, three additional industrial parks—Guangzhou International Enterprise Incubator, Nanfang Meigu Health Industry Park, and Knowledge City International Biopharmaceutical Innovation Park—were added to the first batch of six “One Bio-station, Multiple Parks” parks, bringing professional drug and medical device registration services closer to enterprises.

The “One Bio-station, Multiple Parks” initiative is a comprehensive service system that leverages the “main station” function of the Huangpu District Market Regulation Administration’s New Drug Application Service Center and establishes service branches in key biopharmaceutical industrial parks. It enables enterprises to access full-process support, from R&D to market launch, without leaving their industrial parks, truly realizing the principle that “wherever enterprises are, services will follow.”(By Xu Wan and Zhang Meng)
