Lotus flowers have recently entered peak bloom across Huangpu District, Guangzhou. Lotus ponds in Dongyuan Park, Zhongshan Park, Innovation Park, Entrepreneurship Park and Huasheng Park are now at their best, and all five parks are open to the public free of charge.
Beyond the parks, several Song Dynasty lotus plants in the lotus pond at Haichuang Temple have also come into bloom. Their peak flowering period will last through July, while the overall blooming season is expected to continue into August.
The Song Dynasty lotuses at Haichuang Temple were cultivated from ancient lotus seeds dating back to the Song Dynasty that were unearthed in Kaifeng, Henan Province. After careful cultivation, the first lotus flower bloomed in 2018. Following several years of growth and propagation, the temple is now home to dozens of Song Dynasty lotus plants.
