Huangpu Justice Bureau Uses Cutting-Edge Tech to Deliver a "Mental Wellness SPA" for Juvenile Community Correction Subjects

Stress-relief pods, brainwave music, and online "tree holes"... A group of special young people has found their hearts illuminated by technology. Guangzhou’s Huangpu District is actively promoting technological empowerment to innovate the rule of law and social governance. Recently, the Huangpu District Justice Bureau organized a group of registered juvenile community correction subjects to visit the AI psychological healing exhibition hall of a local specialized, sophisticated, distinctive, and innovative (SRDI) enterprise. The visit provided them with a unique "mental wellness SPA" under the theme "AI Illuminates the Journey of the Mind."

"Yellow Ribbon Help and Education" is a social service brand jointly launched by the Central Committee of the China Democratic League (CDL) and the Ministry of Justice, symbolizing tolerance, acceptance, and reintegration. The Huangpu District Justice Bureau proactively leveraged CDL resources and collaborated with a local psychological technology company to provide psychological support for juvenile community correction subjects using AI technology.
"As a member of the CDL, participating in the 'Yellow Ribbon Help and Education' program is our responsibility. Using AI technology to safeguard mental health and grounding technology with a human touch reflects the original aspiration of CDL members to 'participate in state affairs and care for people's livelihoods,'" said volunteer Ou Hongjun, speaking on behalf of the enterprise. The company donated annual VIP memberships for the "Mindland Planet" psychological app to the juvenile participants, offering them a 24-hour "tree hole" equipped with psychological counseling and AI-powered risk detection functions. The enterprise also officially became a "Juvenile Psychological Care Partner" of the district justice bureau.

At the AI psychological healing exhibition hall, the youths participated in special psychological counseling experiences in groups:

AI Stress-Relief Pod: Participants stepped into the pod and followed AI guidance for immersive stress release. Within just a few minutes, tightly furrowed brows gradually relaxed. The AI's empathetic emotional counseling left several young participants exclaiming that it was "super stress-relieving," with some voluntarily lining up to try it again.

AI Psychological Counseling Robot: Through human-machine conversations and unobtrusive psychological data collection, the robot used warm language to help participants sort through their thoughts. One participant spent a long time talking to it and later told a social worker: "It won’t laugh at me. I can say anything to it."

Group Counseling: Facing Emotions Together

After experiencing the cutting-edge tech, company psychologists led the youths in a group counseling session titled Starting From the Heart—Understanding Ourselves With AI. Ice-breaking games instantly eased the reserved atmosphere. By anonymously writing down their "stressful moments" on small notes, the participants realized, "I'm not the only one who feels this way." Finally, they practiced mindfulness meditation and breathing relaxation techniques together, learning how to self-regulate anytime and anywhere.

Under the theme "AI Illuminates the Journey of the Mind," Huangpu District will continue to carry forward the pioneering spirit of the development zone. Relying on the smart correction system, the district will connect with more high-quality technological resources to provide precise, compassionate, and accessible psychological correction services for special groups, allowing the light of technology to illuminate every homeward journey for those who have lost their way.
