Free Admission: A Sea of Zinnias in Full Bloom at Guangzhou's Huangpu Innovation Park

Updated : 2026-05-21

At Guangzhou's Huangpu Innovation Park, a spectacular sea of zinnias covering an area of approximately 7,000 square meters has entered its peak blooming season. The flowers are currently in full bloom, with the flowering period expected to last until this July.

Colorful zinnias in red, yellow, orange, pink, and purple grow in dense, neat rows. When the wind blows, the entire flower field sways gently, resembling a flowing tapestry. Bees and butterflies flutter among the blossoms, and their buzzing fills the air with the vibrant breath of summer. As "China Tourism Day" arrived as scheduled on May 19, visitors are invited to step into Huangpu, Guangzhou, to encounter unexpected poetic beauty amid the park's lush greenery and flourishing flowers.
A Monet-Style Garden at Your Doorstep
The blooming zinnias at Innovation Park are a dazzling sight. Their petals are delicately layered, with each blossom standing taller than the last. From afar, the colorful flowers stretch across the terrain, looking like a swath of colored silk gently ruffled by the wind.
After admiring the sea of flowers, visitors can take a stroll by the adjacent Bishui Pond. Two white swans glide leisurely across the water, while vivid green lotus leaves blanket the surface. The pond will be well worth a return visit when the lotus flowers bloom in late June.
The sea of zinnias before visitors' eyes is the result of a meticulous transformation of previously underutilized green space at Innovation Park. Since the spring of 2022, this area has featured a seasonally rotating display of different flower fields: brilliant golden rapeseed flowers in the spring, followed by Mexican asters, Gesang flowers, and spider flowers in the summer and autumn—one flower field follows another, season after season.
In recent years, Huangpu District has continuously optimized the quality of its urban landscaping and greenery. From the thousand-year-old plum groves at Luogang Xiangxue—where "Lingnan sees no snow, yet the fragrance of plums fills the air"—to the breathtaking, romantic cherry blossoms at Entrepreneurship Park; from the hillsides blanketed in the spring hues of Birdwood's mucuna at Tianlu Lake to the vibrant, blooming zinnias at Innovation Park; and from the daily routine of "opening the window to see green" to the green-living practice of "stepping out the door and into a park," Huangpu District is transforming its "ecological capital" into tangible benefits for its residents. The district is striving to build a modern eco-city that is livable, business-friendly, and tourist-friendly.
