Setting a New Industry Speed Record: TCL CSOT t8 Project Tops Out Ahead of Schedule in Guangzhou's Huangpu

Updated : 2026-05-12

On May 8, the Phase I project of TCL CSOT's 8.6th-generation printed OLED production line (the t8 Project), located in Guangzhou Development District and Huangpu District, was successfully structurally topped out. Having commenced main construction on November 30, 2025, the project reached its topping-out milestone in just 151 days, setting a new "fastest topping-out" record in the industry. The construction of the world's first large-scale mass-production Gen 8.6 printed OLED line has thus entered a brand-new stage.
As a strategic centerpiece for next-generation display technologies at TCL CSOT, the t8 Project involves a total investment of approximately RMB 29.5 billion. Designed to process around 22,500 glass substrates per month, it targets the high-end mid-sized display market, including laptops, desktop monitors, and tablets.

Cao Weiran, Director of the TCL CSOT Printed OLED Center, stated: "This ahead-of-schedule delivery is the result of joint efforts between the government and the enterprise. Guangzhou Development District and Huangpu District provided us with strong support through their 'full-cycle project construction service system'."
It is reported that through mechanisms such as "Construction Partners" and "Trust-based Construction Preparations," the district intervened early in stages like land approval, planning and construction permitting, and power supply guarantees. This approach resolved nearly 30 construction-related issues, including overlapping property rights, phased land transfers, and intersection access. Currently, cleanroom construction is underway concurrently, and the move-in of main equipment is proceeding steadily.
The successful topping out of the t8 Project is a highlight of industrial project development in Guangzhou Development District for the first quarter. Statistics show that in Q1 2026, the district launched 54 new construction projects. This includes two mega-projects valued at over RMB 10 billion and eight exceeding RMB 1 billion, with industrial projects accounting for over 70% of the total. The district's total fixed-asset investment reached RMB 43.33 billion, ranking first in the city and accounting for 21.6% of Guangzhou's total.
