Ancient Temple Fair Takes on a New Look as Cultural Tourism Shuttle Launches

Updated : 2026-04-02

The 2026 Huangpu "Boluo Dan" Millennium Temple Fair was held from March 27 to 31 at the Nanhai God Temple. To support this grand folk event, the Guangzhou Maritime Museum, in collaboration with Guangzhou Bus Group and Haipai Media, launched the "Heavenly Market over the Sea" themed cultural tourism shuttle line. A series of public-friendly cultural initiatives have been introduced, creating an immersive travel experience where visitors can "step into the scenery upon boarding and enter the park upon alighting."

During the temple fair, distinctive voice announcements were played at Guangzhou BRT stations: "Dear passengers, the Huangpu 'Boluo Dan' Millennium Temple Fair is taking place from March 27 to 31 at the Nanhai God Temple. Visit the fair, pray for blessings, and enjoy intangible cultural heritage performances. Guangzhou BRT invites you to join this vibrant folk celebration and wishes you a pleasant journey!" This warm reminder marked the official launch of a series of collaborations between the Guangzhou Maritime Museum and Guangzhou Bus Group.

The shuttle buses are fully themed around the Maritime Silk Road heritage, the "Heavenly Market over the Sea," and Boluo Dan blessing traditions. Integrated with specialized lighting, themed visuals, and background music, the buses create an immersive onboard atmosphere.

Professional guides are available on board to provide systematic introductions to the history of Boluo Dan, the culture of the Nanhai God Temple, stories of the ancient Maritime Silk Road port, and highlights of the nighttime tour. A mini immersive performance, Maritime Silk Road Adventure, features a time-travel dialogue between a Tang Dynasty envoy and a Song Dynasty merchant from Fuxu, vividly portraying the prosperity of the ancient port and the enduring spirit of the Maritime Silk Road. The shuttle also offers integrated services—including event guides, night tour tips, recommended photo spots, promotional offers, and ticket verification—ensuring a seamless experience from boarding to sightseeing.

The "Heavenly Market over the Sea" themed cultural tourism shuttle line was jointly developed by Guangzhou Bus Group, the Guangzhou Maritime Museum, and Haipai Media. It was specially designed for the 2026 Huangpu "Boluo Dan" Millennium Temple Fair and the immersive night tour program Reappearance: Heavenly Market over the Sea.

Operation Schedule: The shuttle departed daily at 17:20 from March 27 to 31, covering the entire duration of the temple fair. Following the fair, it continues to operate every Saturday at 17:20. The departure point is the BRT Tianhe Sports Center Station (eastbound). Additional services are arranged dynamically based on night tour sessions, with extended operating hours after events to ensure a safe return for visitors.

Ticket Policy: The standard fare is 66 RMB per adult. Seniors, children, and students with valid identification are eligible for a discounted fare of 51 RMB. The fare is an all-inclusive ticket that covers a one-way shuttle ride and admission to the Reappearance: Heavenly Market over the Sea attraction.
