Panasonic recently announced that it will invest approximately 7.5 billion yen (approximately RMB 338 million) in Panasonic Industrial Devices Materials (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd., located in Huangpu District, Guangzhou, to expand a new production line for the "MEGTRON" multilayer substrate material. The new line is expected to begin operation in April 2027.

As a world-leading electronic materials supplier, Panasonic directed this investment toward enhancing the production capacity of its "MEGTRON" series materials — especially high-performance multilayer substrate materials for next-generation AI servers and high-speed communication network equipment.
The Guangzhou plant being expanded was founded in 1997 and has since become one of Panasonic's most important electronic materials production bases in China. The factory currently produces products ranging from "MEGTRON6" to "MEGTRON8," designed for AI high-speed transmission. Going forward, it is set to become a key base dedicated to producing advanced materials for next-generation AI servers requiring even faster transmission speeds. This expansion will further strengthen its supply capacity in the global market, with plans to approximately double the total production capacity of the "MEGTRON" series within five years.
As the main hub of Guangzhou's real economy, Huangpu District has actively promoted the deep integration of manufacturing and artificial intelligence in recent years, attracting a number of world-leading enterprises including Panasonic. The expanded production at Panasonic Industrial Devices Materials (Guangzhou) not only reflects strong confidence in Huangpu District's industrial ecosystem, but also injects fresh impetus into building an "AI + Manufacturing" demonstration hub for the region.
