The 2026 Sparrow Flower Culture Season and Green & Beautiful Huangpu Industry Carnival Kicks Off

Updated : 2026-03-19

The 2026 Sparrow Flower Culture Season and Green & Beautiful Huangpu Industry Carnival officially kicked off at Guangdong Tianluhu Forest Park on March 18!

Every March, Guangdong Tianluhu Forest Park ushers in its most magical season. It is home to the largest native cluster of Sparrow Flowers in downtown Guangzhou, covering an area of over 1,000 mu (about 165 acres).

The Sparrow Flower, also known as the White-flowered Mucuna Vine (Mucuna birdwoodiana), gets its name from its striking resemblance to a little sparrow. When in bloom, its petals curl into the shape of wings, looking crystal clear and translucent. The flowers are pale green or light purple when they first open, turning milky white during full bloom. Their unique shape makes them look incredibly vivid and lifelike.

To ensure a great viewing experience, the park has set up observation decks in prime viewing areas and installed signposts for "viral check-in spots." A casual snap is all it takes to capture a stunning spring blockbuster that will take your WeChat Moments by storm.

The "Flower, Greenery, and Industry Integrated Exhibition" at the event offers a panoramic view of the heritage and opportunities of a "Green and Beautiful Huangpu." It features three main chapters—"Mountains Nourishing Flowers," "Flowers Reflecting Greenery," and "Greenery Integrating Industry"—along with three interactive experience zones focusing on technology, cultural and creative products, and health and wellness.

At the opening ceremony, the Huangpu District Green and Beautiful Industry Investment Opportunity List and Application Scenarios were officially released, accompanied by a centralized signing for key industry projects. Meanwhile, a series of cultural performances—including a lion dance, an adapted Hakka Mountain Song, a poetry recitation titled Guarding the Millennia-Old Trees, and a floral culture dance called The Twelve Flower Deities of Huangpu—took the stage to praise spring through art.

In addition, citizens can sign their children up for sapling adoption or the "Little Green & Beautiful Painter" study tour, allowing eco-friendly concepts to take root and sprout in children's hearts.
