Huangpu Development Park: With water as its soul, the park features lotus, calamus, and iris dotting the stream banks, creating the unique ecological landscape of the "Wetland Floral Stream."
City Avenues & Parks: Along Kaifa Avenue, Xiangxue 3rd Road, and Kaichuang Avenue, as well as within the Civic Square and Entrepreneurship Park, tall and proud kapok trees hold aloft their canopies of vibrant red blooms.
Shankengding Park: Over 600 Golden Trumpet Trees spread across the hillside. During the blooming season, the mountain is bathed in gold, with fallen petals blanketing the wooden boardwalks.
Civic Square: The bougainvillea here blooms across all four seasons, thriving especially from autumn through spring, adding a lasting splash of brilliance to the Lingnan springtime.
As March arrives in Lingnan, Guangzhou's Huangpu District embraces its most poetic season of the year. Along streets, alleys, and park waterfronts, diverse flowers bloom one after another, decorating the entire city into a flowing springtime scroll. This allows residents and visitors alike to fully immerse themselves in the beauty of spring right at their doorsteps.
Liu Chao, the director of the Entrepreneurship Park area in Huangpu District, suggests that those wishing to see Huangpu’s floral oceans in a single day should embark on the "Four-Park Premium Walking Loop." Connecting the Civic Square, Shankengding Park, Yingcui Park, and Entrepreneurship Park, this 6-kilometer route offers gentle terrain, making it perfect for family outings.
Inside Entrepreneurship Park, the clear waters of Xuelang Lake ripple gently, reflecting the picturesque dawn redwood forest. The 600-plus cherry trees planted around the lake are particularly striking. According to park management, the main cultivars here are "China Red" and "Guangzhou Cherry." The Guangzhou Cherries are currently budding and are expected to reach full bloom in late March. When they do, they will present a spectacular sight of "flowers weighing down the branches, resembling rosy clouds." On regular weekends, the park sees about 1,000 to 2,000 visitors, but during the cherry blossom season, daily foot traffic can surge to 4,000 or 5,000, with photography enthusiasts flocking to capture spring's most romantic moments.
The Civic Square follows the natural contours of the hills and waters, where the orchid trees and green plums bloom in succession as young parents stroll by pushing strollers. In Shankengding Park, retired teachers bring their sketchboards to paint the over 600 Golden Trumpet Trees that turn the hillside into a golden wonderland and blanket the wooden boardwalks with fallen petals. Meanwhile, the Development Park uses water as its core feature, with lotus, calamus, and iris dotting the stream to create the unique "Wetland Floral Stream."
In recent years, Guangzhou's Huangpu District has steadily advanced its vision of a "District-Wide Park City," striving to create signature landscapes under the "One Park, One Theme" concept. From the ecological waterscapes of Huangpu Park and the four-season floral oceans of Innovation Park, to the ten-mile plum forest in Xiangxue Park, the romantic cherry blossoms in Entrepreneurship Park, and the "Bird Paradise" in Zhongshan Park—each showcases its unique beauty while harmonizing with the rest. These sites have become trending landmarks that residents and tourists eagerly flock to.
