Recently, the opening ceremony of the 2026 Huangpu Reading Season and the opening of the Duxiu Fenghua Art Gallery were held at the Huangpu District Library (Xiangxue Branch). The event opened with a book-themed program, followed by performances including a Qipao fashion show and classical recitations, creating a lively atmosphere.
With the official launch of the 2026 Huangpu Reading Season, the Duxiu Fenghua Art Gallery was unveiled and opened to the public. The gallery is an innovative “library within a library,” co-established through the “library + social participation” model. It integrates the intangible cultural heritage art of Suzhou embroidery into public reading spaces, creating cultural scenes that are immersive, experiential, and shareable. A key exhibit is the embroidered long scroll Prosperity of Suzhou, which showcases the creative transformation of intangible cultural heritage.
At the event, the fifth volume of the Huangpu Has Stories book series, Dream Builders of Huangpu, was officially released. Compiled and edited by the Guangzhou Huangpu District Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism, the book documents the journeys of 12 ordinary individuals who work and live in Huangpu through text, historical photographs, and interviews. It traces their transition from “making a living” to “building dreams,” reflecting Huangpu’s development trajectory and the spirit of the times. The series continues to focus on local figures and stories, preserving the city’s cultural memory and development ethos.
On the same day, the first event of the Huangpu Reading Season—the Huangpu Book Fair—opened at the west plaza of the Xiangxue Branch. Featuring sectors such as health and wellness, cultural experiences, and science and technology interaction, the fair attracted large numbers of residents and further fostered an inclusive, shared cultural experience.
The Huangpu Reading Season will run through March 2026. During this period, more than 100 activities—including the “Silk Road Imprints” stamp-collecting program, the “Letters of Affection” cultural call for submissions, public-interest handicraft workshops, and “Reading Huangpu”—will be held, promoting deeper integration of reading with tourism and leisure.
