Another Fortune Global 500 Project Launches in Guangzhou’s Huangpu District

Updated : 2025-12-09

On December 4, the 7th Meeting of the China-France Entrepreneurs Committee was convened. As a pioneer in industry-city integration and circular-economy practices in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area—and the only enterprise invited from Guangzhou—Science City Group joined Veolia, a Fortune Global 500 company and a global leader in ecological transformation, at the event and signed a cooperation agreement.

The two sides will jointly establish an innovative zero-carbon project for industrial flue gas capture and resource utilization in the Guangzhou Development District and Huangpu District. This collaboration marks another significant achievement in practical cooperation between China and France in the green and low-carbon sector. It is also an important initiative for the Guangzhou Development District to implement the national carbon peaking goals under the 15th Five-Year Plan and to accelerate the green transformation of its economic system.

The project will adopt Veolia’s cutting-edge carbon-capture and waste-heat recovery technologies to realize efficient treatment and resource utilization of industrial flue gas in the park. It is expected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 200,000 tonnes annually, while converting recovered waste heat into steam and electricity for direct supply to enterprises in the park—creating an integrated model of “pollution control and energy recovery.”
