Two new library branches in Guangzhou's Huangpu District — the Maokafu Art Branch (Jingxia Branch) and the Maritime Silk Road Suidong Branch — have recently opened to the public.
The Maokafu Art Branch (Jingxia Branch) draws inspiration from a cat-like philosophy of life and integrates Kafka-esque literary reflections. Guided by its core philosophy of “harboring inspiration, sharing knowledge, sparking creativity, and soothing the soul,” it is the district’s first rural library themed around the cross-disciplinary integration of literature and art. It provides citizens and visitors with a cultural haven that blends humanistic warmth with aesthetic value.
The Maritime Silk Road Suidong Branch is a key project in Huangpu’s cultural development. Inspired by the Maritime Silk Road, the branch features areas such as the Knowledge Cloud Ladder, Book Dream Corridor, and Maritime Silk Road Culture Wall, integrating historical memory with immersive reading spaces. In the future, it will regularly offer Maritime Silk Road-themed lectures, hands-on intangible cultural heritage workshops, and parent-child reading programs. It will also collaborate with schools and communities to create cultural study routes, aiming to bring Maritime Silk Road culture to life and pass it on.
