On the morning of November 26, a trial high-speed train departed from Guangzhou Baiyun Station bound for Zhanjiang North Station, marking the official start of trial operations for the Guangzhou–Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway (Guang-Zhan HSR) and entering the countdown to its full opening. The line is scheduled to be operational by the end of this year. Once opened, it will reduce travel time between the city centers of Guangzhou and Zhanjiang to just 1.5 hours.

The Guangzhou–Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway is a key segment of the coastal passenger corridor in China’s national “Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal” high-speed rail network. The main line stretches 401 kilometers, with a designed operating speed of 350 km/h. It passes through Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhaoqing, Yunfu, Yangjiang, Maoming, and Zhanjiang, and includes ten stations: Guangzhou Baiyun, Foshan, Foshan–Zhaoqing, Xinxing South, Yangchun East, Yangjiang North, Matang, Maoming South, Wuchuan, and Zhanjiang North.

Upon its completion, the Guangzhou–Zhanjiang High-Speed Railway will significantly shorten travel time between western Guangdong and the Greater Bay Area, greatly enhance transport capacity, and substantially improve mobility for residents in western Guangdong. The project holds great significance for accelerating the development of high-speed rail connectivity between the Greater Bay Area and western Guangdong, strengthening transportation integration within the province, and boosting regional economic growth.
