Western Returned Scholars Association Returnee Town (Guangzhou·Biomedicine) Officially Inaugurated!

On November 8, the inauguration ceremony for the Western Returned Scholars Association (WRSA) Returnee Town (Guangzhou·Biomedicine) was held in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. During the event, recognition plaques were presented to the first batch of high-quality biomedical enterprises that have settled in the Returnee Town, covering cutting-edge fields such as gene therapy, precision diagnosis, and innovative drug research and development.

The WRSA Returnee Town (Guangzhou·Biomedicine) is a key benchmark project jointly developed by the Western Returned Scholars Association and the Guangzhou Municipal Government. With high-tech industries in the biomedical sector as its core engine, it aims to fully leverage the professional expertise and collective strength of overseas returnees, helping Guangzhou accelerate industrial upgrading and achieve high-quality development.

The WRSA Returnee Town (Guangzhou·Biomedicine)

The core area of the WRSA Returnee Town (Guangzhou·Biomedicine) is located in the China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City, with a planned area of 3.8 square kilometers. It follows a “One Town, Two Centers” development model, building a full-chain industrial ecosystem encompassing R&D incubation, clinical application, production, and sales. The goal is to establish it as a key hub for biomedical innovation and development for overseas returnee talents in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City

The Returnee Town utilizes the already completed Phoenix Valley Returnee Center and the International Biomedicine Innovation Center as its twin cores. These centers provide comprehensive services including office space, R&D facilities, rental housing, and commercial amenities, creating a livable and business-friendly environment for returnee professionals.

The surrounding area is equipped with well-developed international facilities for healthcare, education, commerce, and housing, offering a comfortable and supportive environment for overseas returnees to start businesses and develop careers with peace of mind.

To date, the Returnee Town has attracted nearly 30 renowned innovative enterprises and projects. Their products cover critical areas such as anti-cancer and antibody drugs, high-end in vitro diagnostic instruments and equipment, integrated proton therapy systems, and innovative vaccines. The total investment has exceeded RMB 37 billion, with an expected annual output value of RMB 100 billion.
