Recently, TCL Technology Group Corp. announced that its subsidiary, TCL China Star Optoelectronics Technology (TCL CSOT), has signed a project cooperation agreement with the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government and the Administrative Committee of Guangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone.
Signing Ceremony
Under the agreement, TCL CSOT, together with the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government and the Administrative Committee of Guangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone, plans to jointly invest in constructing an 8.6-generation printed OLED display panel production line in Guangzhou (hereinafter referred to as the "t8 Project"), with a monthly processing capacity of approximately 22,500 2290mm × 2620mm glass substrates. Its main products will be used in applications including flat-panel TVs, laptops, and monitors. The total investment is estimated at around 29.5 billion yuan.
According to the announcement, the t8 Project is scheduled to commence construction in November 2025. As the world's first high-generation printed OLED panel production line, this project will provide a key opportunity for Chinese display manufacturers. It enables them to surpass overseas competitors in high-generation AMOLED technology based on printed AMOLED processes and become leaders in new display innovations.
Guangzhou has been steadfastly aiming to build itself into a "World Display Capital" and has become a pioneering and exemplary area for the development of China's ultra-high-definition video display industry. Huangpu District is now accelerating the aggregation of the emerging display industry through strategic industrial clustering.
Currently, Huangpu is driving the cluster development of the new display industry under the model of "leading industries guided by flagship enterprises, supported by a robust industrial ecosystem." It has established a complete industrial chain covering upstream display materials and equipment, midstream panel and module manufacturing, and downstream applications. The district is now home to 137 large-scale enterprises in the new display sector, which generated an annual output value exceeding 150 billion yuan in 2024, representing about three-quarters of the city's total output.
