Guangzhou Huangpu Launches 24-Hour Autonomous Driving Robotaxi Demonstration Service

Recently, Huangpu-based autonomous driving technology company WeRide announced that its new mass-produced Robotaxi model, GXR, has officially begun 24/7 demonstration operations in Huangpu. Users can now hail a ride to any destination within Huangpu with just one tap.

This marks the industry’s first autonomous ride-hailing service in a core urban area of a top-tier city offering true “point-to-point” coverage, fully showcasing WeRide’s unquestionable leadership, operational experience, and profound expertise in the global Robotaxi industry.

The GXR is a mass-produced Robotaxi model specifically designed by WeRide for urban mobility scenarios. It is equipped with industry-leading L4-level autonomous driving capabilities for public road commercial operations.

Equipped with WeRide’s self-developed HPC 3.0 high-performance computing platform—the world’s first to incorporate NVIDIA DRIVE Thor X chips—the GXR possesses a "super brain" capable of performing over 20 quadrillion complex calculations per second. It also features "insightful eyes"—the WeRide Sensor Suit 5.6 sensor suite—which can penetrate darkness, rain, fog, snow, and haze, while accurately detecting pedestrians, cutting-in vehicles, and complex road conditions such as nighttime construction. Additionally, its “robust body” integrates comprehensive redundant systems including vehicle architecture, F-O drive-by-wire chassis (full redundant), computing units, and braking systems. Through the seamless coordination of these proprietary technologies, the Robotaxi GXR can operate safely and reliably in complex urban traffic environments, around the clock and in all weather conditions.

In terms of user experience, the Robotaxi GXR features class-leading vehicle length and wheelbase, a spacious five-seat interior, voice-controlled doors, entertainment screens, and a luggage compartment, making it ideal for family travel.
