A groundbreaking ceremony for the Guangzhou AI Glasses Industrial Park and ZEISS Optics Town was recently held in the China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City in Huangpu District, Guangzhou. As a key component of the industrial park, ZEISS Optics Town will be developed into a world-class benchmark park for the smart glasses industry, with a focus on next-generation smart eyewear technologies, including augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), mixed reality (MR) and extended reality (XR).
Yang Xiaoguang, chairman and president of ZEISS Vision Care China, said the company would leverage its role as an anchor enterprise in the industrial chain. Drawing on the intelligent manufacturing capabilities of its Global Lighthouse factory in Guangzhou, ZEISS will bring together upstream and downstream partners, research institutions, universities and innovative enterprises to foster collaboration across the entire smart glasses value chain—from core technology research and development and key component manufacturing to end-use applications. These efforts will support Guangzhou in becoming a globally influential hub for smart glasses innovation.
An official from the Guangzhou Development District said the district would continue to provide a first-class business environment to support ZEISS’s long-term development and deepen cooperation across optics, AI and the broader healthcare sector. The government and enterprises will work together to build a global hub for smart optics innovation.
