Land Transfer Area Rises 130% in H1; Huangpu District, Guangzhou Boosts Industrial Development Through Optimized Land Use

A source from the Huangpu Branch of the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Planning and Natural Resources recently revealed that in the first half of this year, Huangpu District transferred 39 land parcels with a total area of nearly 1.1 million square meters. Compared with the same period last year, the number of land transactions increased by more than 50%, while the transferred land area grew by approximately 130%.

The stable supply of land resources has effectively supported the successive establishment of major projects, including two RMB 10-billion-scale projects — HKC T8 and Rongjie Technology — as well as high-quality enterprises such as Xpeng Motors, EHang, CVTE and Biotheus in Huangpu.

As a major industrial district of Guangzhou, Huangpu has continued to expand its industrial scale. In recent years, strategic emerging industries such as new display technologies, aerospace and biomedicine have accelerated their development in the district, leading to surging demand from enterprises for high-quality industrial space.

To address this challenge, the Huangpu Branch of the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Planning and Natural Resources has fully leveraged its role in coordinating regional land and spatial resources. Adhering to the principle of intensive and efficient land use, the bureau has focused on increasing development intensity and improving land-use efficiency, promoting a shift in industrial space development from “horizontal expansion” to “three-dimensional growth.” This approach has effectively addressed the common challenge of securing land resources for development in megacities.

To date, Huangpu District has increased the floor area ratios of 121 industrial plots, involving a total land area of approximately 3.1 million square meters. Following the adjustments, the total construction volume of these areas has increased to 12.18 million square meters, creating an additional 4.15 million square meters of high-quality industrial space. The move ensures that “promising projects have sufficient space and emerging industries have room to grow.”
