Cross-border medical technology CEOs gather in Guangzhou

Guangzhou International Bio Island recently hosted the "Cross-Border Medical Technology CEOs Guangzhou Tour" exchange activity in Huangpu district.

The event was jointly organized by the Guangzhou Development District or GDD and the Advanced Medical Technology Association or AdvaMed.

It invited executives from provincial and municipal departments, as well as well-known medical device companies such as Medtronic, Abbott, Qiagen and BioMérieux.

During the event, business representatives engaged in in-depth discussions on topics of interest to multinational companies.

They included innovative medical device research and development, as well as industrialization and leveraging the advantages of the Hong Kong-Macao Medical Device Access policy to promote the integration of innovative medical devices into hospitals.

The business representatives praised the industrial development of the GDD and expressed their vision for deepening cooperation, expanding business and seeking development opportunities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

In recent years, the GDD is said to have achieved significant results. That's through introducing various measures and vigorously promoting cooperation between biopharma and medical device firms in research, clinical trials and product development.

The outcome has been the facilitation of the accelerated integration of innovative medical devices into medical insurance, procurement systems and hospital settings.

With over 4,000 biopharma companies gathered in the district and the introduction of leading domestic and foreign medical device enterprises, a complete industry supply chain has been established.

Moving forward, plans are for Huangpu to continue to strive to create a highland for the development of the biopharma and healthcare sector.
