New express channel project enhances urban transport networks

Recently, the Guangzhou Science City-Guangzhou Knowledge City Express Channel project, eagerly awaited by residents of Huangpu district, has seen new developments.

The project starts from the outer ring road, connects to the Yonghe-Kowloon Expressway at its endpoint, and facilitates east-west main road interconnections with roads like Yuanyong Road, Yongshun Avenue, and Guangshan Highway.

Currently, the express channel (south section) project is in the core phase of its construction - the excavation stage of the tunnel engineering. By the middle of next year, the south section is expected to achieve full tunnel penetration.

Once the entire route is open, it is estimated that a journey from the Guangzhou Knowledge City to the Guangzhou Science City could take as little as 13 minutes.

The route of the express channel traverses significant areas such as Datongling Mountain and Huangqi Mountain, connecting multiple vital regions, including the Guangzhou Science City, Changlingju, and Guangzhou Knowledge City.

The south section extends from the outer ring road to the Shuisheng Reservoir, the north section from the Shuisheng Reservoir to the Guangshan Highway, and the north extension line from the Guangshan Highway to the Biological Safety Park area of the Yonghe-Kowloon Expressway.

The express channel is poised to link several crucial areas, forming a strengthened north-south regional transport artery. It will play a vital role in improving Huangpu's overall road network structure and driving development along the route.
