Guangzhou shines in 2024 Fortune Global 500 list

On Aug 5, Fortune published the latest edition of the Fortune Global 500 list, which features six companies based in Guangzhou.

Leading the group is China Southern Power Grid Company, with its headquarters located in Huangpu district, securing the 78th position. This centrally managed State-owned enterprise serves a massive population of 272 million individuals across Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, Hainan, Hong Kong, Macao, and Southeast Asian countries.

The other five Guangzhou-based companies featured on the list are Guangzhou Automobile Group (181st), Guangzhou Municipal Construction Group (361st), Guangzhou Industrial Investment Holding Group (394th), Guangdong Guangxin Holdings Group (414th), and Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Group (417th). These companies have consistently showcased strong capabilities and innovation in their respective fields, achieving remarkable success on the global stage.

Overall, the collective revenue of the Fortune Global 500 companies for this year approximates $41 trillion, equivalent to one-third of the global GDP. The release of this ranking underscores the significant position and growing influence of Guangzhou-based enterprises in the global economy.
