Haisi city design makes new progress

A design team dedicated to Haisi city in Huangpu district, Guangzhou, accomplished its further design plan of Haisi city and passed the review process, on March 19.

In 2023, Guangzhou held an invitational design tournament for the best design of Haisi City, which was won by the team. This year, the members improves their original design plan, blending assimilation of other teams' ideas and innovation.

The improved plan links up local culture, industries and ecology. It conceptualizes Haisi city as a world-class waterfront area which covers one lengthy beach gathering high-tech enterprises, four Pearl River waterfront island clusters, six modern industrial parks, and 10 future living clusters.

Based on the conception, a four-kilometer-long Haisi New Coast will be built beside the Huangpu Bridge, contributing to two core sections centered around the Wenchong Shipyard and the Huangpu Power Plant. It will attract an agglomeration of high-tech enterprises and boost international communication in the city. Meanwhile, the total construction volume of the key area is set to be approximately 2.4 million square meters, providing a 1.2-million-square-meter offices space.
