Updated : 2023-06-09

On June 1, the cultural and tourism industry investment and financing promotion event for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area was held in Huangpu district.

At the event, the Greater Bay Area Outward Cultural Trade Fund and the Cultural Industry Empowerment for Rural Vitalization (Huangpu) Fund were launched, with a combined amount of 20 billion yuan ($3.08 billion) already in place.

Several cultural tourism investment and financing project contracts were signed at the event, with a value of over 10 billion yuan. Additionally, more than 400 experts, scholars, cultural and tourism enterprises, and financial institution representatives jointly explored new opportunities that could accelerate the development of cultural tourism in the Greater Bay Area.

Huangpu district, as the host of the event, has multiple tourism advantages, including being a national demonstration base for the integration of culture and technology, and a national innovative demonstration zone for import trade promotion. It is also a national base for the development of online gaming and animation industries, as well as a comprehensive reform pilot zone for the protection and utilization of intellectual property rights.

Currently, the district has 45 national, provincial, and municipal-level industrial design centers, and is home to many listed cultural enterprises and industry leaders.

Huangpu's cultural, sports, and entertainment industries have maintained high growth this year, with a year-on-year revenue increase of 55.6 percent from January to April, ranking first among the nine major service industries in the district and second among all other districts in Guangzhou.
