Huangpu metros to be put into operation this year

Recent news from Guangzhou's transportation department reveals that the city is pushing forward with infrastructure projects, with 399 projects planned for this year, which have an investment of over 100 billion yuan ($14.53 billion). This is to improve infrastructure development in Huangpu district, and the city as a whole.

Many transportation projects passing through Huangpu district, like the new subway line and highway, are expected to be opened to the public this year.

The No 5 Metro Line East Extension project starts from Wenchong Station, ends at Huangpu New Port Station, and has a total length of 9.76 kilometers. It has six stations, including Miaotou, Xiayuan, Baoying Avenue, Xiagang, and Huangpu New Port. The construction of this project completes 93 percent, and the metro is expected to run at a maximum speed of 90 km per hour once in operation.

The second phase of the No 7 Metro Line project starts from South University City Station and ends at Yanshan Station, with a total length of 22 km. It covers 11 stations, including Shenjing, Changzhou, Hongshengsha, and Yufengwei. The construction of the project completes 92 percent and once running, the metro will have a maximum speed of 80 km per hour.

In Huangpu, an additional two metro projects that pass through the district have also made new progress.

The No 12 Metro Line starts at Xunfenggang Station and ends at South University City Station, with a total length of about 37.6 km. Over 60 percent of the project's construction has been completed. Twelve of the 25 stations have been capped, and the remaining 13 are still under construction. 

The 2nd phase of the No 13 Metro Line has an east-west orientation, and starts from Chaoyang Station and ends at Yuzhu Station. Along the line are key development areas such as Luochongwei Comprehensive Transformation District, Beijing Road Cultural Core District, International Financial City, and Huangpu Lingang Business District. This project has also completed over 60 percent of its construction tasks.
