Huangpu hosts biomedicine industry chain development forum

A forum on the Guangzhou biomedicine industry chain's high-quality development was held in Huangpu district on Feb 23.

Xian Yinsong, executive deputy director of the Guangzhou Development District administrative committee, attended the forum and made a speech.

Xian said that Huangpu will improve policy support, service platform construction, and financial services for the development of the biomedicine industry, as well as improve the layout of the industrial chain.

Huangpu will set up research and development innovation platforms to promote the transformation of scientific research results. It will also focus on improving the approval speed of medicine and medical devices to provide better and more efficient services for the development of the biomedicine industry in Huangpu, Xian added.

The biomedicine industry is one of the most active emerging industries in global innovation. In recent years, Huangpu district has been striving to build a biomedicine industry hub.

Huangpu has built high-end development platforms, such as Guangzhou International Bio Island, Guangzhou Science City, and China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City, forming a complete industrial ecosystem covering research and development, pilot testing, as well as production.

The district has formed a future-facing biomedicine industry cluster covering six fields, including gene testing, recombinant proteins, cell therapy, stem cells, tissue engineering, and 3D bioprinting.

Huangpu has also launched a series of industry policies with the highest support intensity in the country, such as the  10 Articles on Biomedicine. More than 4,000 biomedicine enterprises have gathered in the district, of which more than 400 are high-tech enterprises, leading biomedicine industry development in the country.
