Huangpu enterprises hit Guangdong innovation list

Nine enterprises in Huangpu district made it onto the "Guangdong Innovation TOP100 List (2022)", which was recently released by Guangzhou Daily data and digitization (GDI).

This list evaluates institutions in Guangdong from 2017 to 2021 from five dimensions: total number of inventions, patent authorization rate, patent globalization, patent influence, and patent growth.

The list covers nine cities in Guangdong province, mainly within the Pearl River Delta region, with Guangzhou and Shenzhen accounting for 70 percent of the listed institutions.

As a national central city and the core engine of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Guangzhou continues to boost innovation vitality and accelerate scientific and technological innovation.

The evaluation results show that the innovation strength of the listed institutions in Guangzhou continues to improve in 2022. The average total number of inventions increased by 27.61 percent year-on-year, while the average patent authorization rate increased by 5.48 percentage points year-on-year. The average number of international patents increased by 27.78 percent year-on-year, and the average number of patent citations showed an increase of 61.87 percent year-on-year.

Among the 100 institutions on the list, 96 belong to emerging industries. These include eight emerging fields, such as advanced manufacturing, new generation information technology, biology, high-end equipment manufacturing, new materials, new energy, energy conservation, and environmental protection, as well as digital creativity.
