Guangzhou COVID-19 Update for November 8, 2022

On November 8, 2022, Guangzhou reported 91 locally-acquired cases, among which 72 were found among people under centralized quarantine, 17 were found among people under mandatory home quarantine, one was found among people under closed-loop management, and one was found in a fever clinic. Guangzhou also reported 2,546 locally-acquired asymptomatic cases, among which 812 were found among people under centralized quarantine, 1,680 were found among people under mandatory home quarantine, 34 were found among people in high-risk areas, 19 were found in district-wide PCR testing, and one was found among people under closed-loop management. Besides, 387 previously reported locally-acquired asymptomatic cases were changed to confirmed cases. The above 2,637 patients have already been transferred to designated hospitals for isolation and treatment and are in stable condition. Their close contacts have been placed under centralized quarantine, and key sites have been controlled. In addition, Guangzhou reported four imported confirmed cases and 16 imported asymptomatic cases. And one previously reported imported asymptomatic case was changed to a confirmed case.

As of 24:00, November 8, 2022, a total of 20,286 positive cases have been reported in the city. These include 6,253 confirmed cases (2,729 imported cases and 3,524 locally-acquired cases), among which 1,976 cases are still being treated in the hospital. There are 14,033 asymptomatic cases (3,652 imported cases and 10,381 locally-acquired cases), among which 9,410 cases are still under medical observation.

Details of the Four Imported Confirmed Cases and 16 Imported Asymptomatic Cases

The four imported confirmed cases are travelers from the United Arab Emirates (1), Laos (1), Canada (1), and Ethiopia (1). The 16 imported asymptomatic cases are travelers from Saudi Arabia (8), Myanmar (2), Turkey (1), the Philippines (1), Kuwait (1), Republic of Korea (1), the United Arab Emirates (1), and Egypt (1).

Upon their arrival in Guangzhou, all the imported confirmed and asymptomatic cases were transferred to hotels for centralized quarantine. They tested positive for COVID-19 during quarantine and were transferred to designated hospitals for isolation and treatment.
