Guangzhou COVID-19 Update for November 7, 2022

On November 7, 2022, Guangzhou reported 114 locally-acquired cases, among which 77 were found among people under centralized quarantine, 33 were found among people under mandatory home quarantine, two were found among people in high-risk areas, and two were found in district-wide PCR testing. Guangzhou also reported 2,263 locally-acquired asymptomatic cases, among which 824 were found among people under centralized quarantine, 1,387 were found among people under mandatory home quarantine, 37 were found among people in high-risk areas, 12 were found in district-wide PCR testing, one was found among people in medium-risk areas, one was found in a fever clinic, and one was found among people with high exposure risk. Besides, 118 previously reported locally-acquired asymptomatic cases were changed to confirmed cases. The above 2,377 patients have already been transferred to designated hospitals for isolation and treatment and are in stable condition. Their close contacts have been placed under centralized quarantine, and key sites have been controlled. In addition, Guangzhou reported six imported asymptomatic cases. And one previously reported imported asymptomatic case was changed to a confirmed case.

As of 24:00, November 7, 2022, a total of 17,629 positive cases have been reported in the city. These include 5,770 confirmed cases (2,724 imported cases and 3,046 locally-acquired cases), among which 1,536 cases are still being treated in the hospital. There are 11,859 asymptomatic cases (3,637 imported cases and 8,222 locally-acquired cases), among which 7,329 cases are still under medical observation.

Details of the Six Imported Asymptomatic Cases

The six imported asymptomatic cases are travelers from Saudi Arabia (2), Canada (1), Sri Lanka (1), France (1), and Japan (1).

Upon their arrival in Guangzhou, all the imported confirmed and asymptomatic cases were transferred to hotels for centralized quarantine. They tested positive for COVID-19 during quarantine and were transferred to designated hospitals for isolation and treatment.
