Guangzhou COVID-19 Update for November 2, 2022

On November 2, 2022, Guangzhou reported 50 locally-acquired cases, among which, 25 were found among people under centralized quarantine, 18 were found among people under mandatory home quarantine, five were found among people in high-risk areas, and two were found in district-wide PCR testing. Guangzhou also reported 323 locally-acquired asymptomatic cases, among which, 59 were found among people under centralized quarantine, 241 were found among people under mandatory home quarantine, 18 were found among people in high-risk areas, four were found in district-wide PCR testing, and one was found in a fever clinic. Besides, 33 previously reported locally-acquired asymptomatic cases were changed to confirmed cases. The above 373 patients have already been transferred to designated hospitals for isolation and treatment and are in stable condition. Their close contacts have been placed under centralized quarantine, and key sites have been controlled. In addition, Guangzhou reported two imported confirmed cases and seven imported asymptomatic cases.

As of 24:00, November 2, 2022, a total of 10,631 positive cases have been reported in the city. These include 4,868 confirmed cases (2,712 imported cases and 2,156 locally-acquired cases), among which, 868 cases are still being treated in the hospital. There are 5,763 asymptomatic cases (3,606 imported cases and 2,157 locally-acquired cases), among which, 1,735 cases are still under medical observation.

According to epidemiological investigative results, the following key sites have been identified:

Baiyun District

Yuncheng Subdistrict: 20th Lane, Beimen East Street; No. 32, Beimen East Street;

Tongde Subdistrict: Hengjiao Market; Zede Garden Phase II.

Jiahe Subdistrict: the fever clinic of the Hospital of Jia He Yimin

Junhe Subdistrict: Zongrun North Street, Luogang Village

Tianhe District

Tangxia Subdistrict: Fengle Street; Tangde Comprehensive Market; the PCR testing site at the center square, Tang'an Road (west of Tangde Market); Tongxin Park, Tangdong Village.

Details of the Two Imported Confirmed Cases and Seven Imported Asymptomatic Cases

The two imported confirmed cases are travellers from Thailand (1) and Indonesia (1). The seven imported asymptomatic cases are travellers from the Netherlands (1), Singapore (1), Canada (1), Indonesia (1), Thailand (1), Israel (1), and the United Arab Emirates (1).

Upon their arrival in Guangzhou, all the imported confirmed and asymptomatic cases were transferred to hotels for centralized quarantine. They tested positive for COVID-19 during quarantine and were transferred to designated hospitals for isolation and treatment.
