Guangzhou COVID-19 Update for October 28

On October 28, 2022, Guangzhou reported 54 locally-acquired cases, among which, 22 were found among close contacts under quarantine or people with high exposure risk, 11 were found among controllers in medium- and high-risk areas, 11 were found in district-wide PCR testing, seven were found in  fever clinics, and three were found among yellow health code holders under health administration. Guangzhou also reported 85 locally-acquired asymptomatic cases, among which, 52 were found among close contacts under quarantine or people with high exposure risk, 15 were found among controllers in medium- and high-risk areas, 13 were found in district-wide PCR testing, two were found in fever clinics, two were found among people who travelled (returned) to Guangzhou from another province and one was found among yellow health code holders under health administration. The above 139 patients already been transferred to Guangzhou No. 8 People's Hospital for isolation and treatment and are in stable condition. Their close contacts have been placed under centralized quarantine and key sites have been controlled. In addition, Guangzhou reported 7 imported asymptomatic cases.

As of 24:00 October 28, 2022, a total of 8,681 positive cases have been reported in the city. These include 4,199 confirmed cases (2,699 imported cases and 1,500 locally-acquired cases), among which, 303 cases are still being treated in hospital; and 4,482 asymptomatic cases (3,565 imported cases and 917 locally-acquired cases), among which, 680 cases are still under medical observation.

Details of the 7 Imported Asymptomatic Cases

The 7 imported asymptomatic cases are travellers from United Arab Emirates (2), Saudi Arabia (2), Singapore (2) and the Philippines (1).

Upon their arrival in Guangzhou, all the imported confirmed and asymptomatic cases were transferred to hotels for centralized quarantine. They tested positive for COVID-19 during quarantine and were transferred to Guangzhou No. 8 People's Hospital for isolation and treatment.
