Guangzhou COVID-19 Update for October 26

On October 26, 2022, Guangzhou reported 11 locally-acquired cases, among which, five were found among close contacts under quarantine or people with high exposure risk, five were found in district-wide PCR testing and one was found among yellow health code holders under health administration. Guangzhou also reported 39 locally-acquired asymptomatic cases, 15 were found among close contacts under quarantine or people with high exposure risk, 12 were found in medium- and high-risk areas, 10 were found in district-wide PCR testing, two were found among yellow health code holders under health administration. In addition, Guangzhou reported one imported confirmed case and ten imported asymptomatic cases, while one previously reported imported asymptomatic case has changed to a confirmed case.

As of 24:00 October 26, 2022, a total of 8,447 positive cases have been reported in the city. These include 4,122 confirmed cases (2,695 imported cases and 1,427 locally-acquired cases), among which, 283 cases are still being treated in hospital; and 4,325 asymptomatic cases (3,539 imported cases and 786 locally-acquired cases), among which, 591 cases are still under medical observation.

Details of the One Imported Confirmed Case and Ten Imported Asymptomatic Cases

The one imported confirmed case is a traveller from Saudi Arabia; the ten imported asymptomatic cases are travellers from Saudi Arabia (6), Malaysia (1), the United Arab Emirates (1), Russia (1) and Pakistan (1).

Upon their arrival in Guangzhou, all the imported confirmed and asymptomatic cases were transferred to hotels for centralized quarantine. They tested positive for COVID-19 during quarantine and were transferred to Guangzhou No. 8 People’s Hospital for isolation and treatment.

Yuexiu District

Due to COVID-19 containment requirements, if you have been to the following key sites of Yuexiu District, please report to your community and strictly take PCR test three times within three days. You will also need to practice relevant safety protocols as required. If your failure to report your information faithfully or your failure to implement COVID-19 control and prevention measures caused serious consequences, you will be held legally responsible.
