Guangzhou COVID-19 Update for October 24

On October 24, 2022, Guangzhou reported 22 locally-acquired cases, among which, 16 were found among people under quarantine, two were found in high-risk areas, two were found in fever clinics and two were found in district-wide PCR testing. Guangzhou also reported 43 locally-acquired asymptomatic cases, 32 were found among people under quarantine, five were found in high-risk areas, five were found in district-wide PCR testing and one was found among people with high exposure risk under closed-loop management. In addition, Guangzhou reported 19 imported asymptomatic cases.

As of 24:00 October 24, 2022, a total of 8,290 positive cases have been reported in the city. These include 4,081 confirmed cases (2,692 imported cases and 1,389 locally-acquired cases), among which, 268 cases are still being treated in hospital; and 4,209 asymptomatic cases (3,508 imported cases and 701 locally-acquired cases), among which, 518 cases are still under medical observation.

Details of the 19 Imported Asymptomatic Cases

The 19 imported asymptomatic cases are travellers from Singapore (6), Germany (2), Kenya (2), Myanmar (2), the United States (1), Mongolia (1), Turkey (1), Kuwait (1), Laos (1), Canada (1) and Japan (1).

Upon their arrival in Guangzhou, all the imported confirmed and asymptomatic cases were transferred to hotels for centralized quarantine. They tested positive for COVID-19 during quarantine and were transferred to Guangzhou No. 8 People’s Hospital for isolation and treatment.

Guangzhou CDC Reminder: Please Report and Get Tested Immediately If You Have Taken the Following Bus Trips

Due to COVID-19 containment requirements, residents who have taken buses B7 and 239 at the following stations or have transferred at the stations during the period from October 23 to 24, please report to your community and take PCR tests three times within three days. You will also need to monitor your health status and practice safety protocols as required. If you feel unwell, please seek medical attention while wearing personal protection.

On October 24, Zengcheng CDC was informed that the PCR test results of two truck drivers traveling to Guangdong from another province were abnormal, involving the S18 Huadu-Dongguan Expressway Nanxiangshan Service Area (North to South).

Due to COVID-19 containment requirements, if you have been to the following key sites in the specified time slots, please report to your community immediately and take three PCR tests within three days. You will also need to monitor your health status and practice safety protocols as required. The list of key sites is shown in the table below and will be updated on a rolling basis following the latest developments in the COVID-19 situation.
