Huangpu makes great cultural achievements over past 10 years

In 2021, the revenue of cultural enterprises above designated size in Guangzhou's Huangpu district reached 51.23 billion yuan ($1.72 billion), an increase of 15.59 percent from the previous year.

There were also 186 legal entities in Huangpu's cultural industry above designated size in the first half of 2022, an increase of 22 from 2020.

In 2022, the district has added three new cultural industry parks, with Huangpu now boasting seven cultural industry parks at all levels, including one at the national level, five at the municipal level, and one at the district level. It has expanded its culture space carrier from 88,500 square meters in 2021 to 353,500 sqm, with an additional four parks currently under construction.

Its "10 Items for Culture and Tourism" policy has supported a total of 73 cultural enterprises and 108 projects, with the cumulative support funds exceeding 45 million yuan.

The special fund of the Guangzhou National Culture and Technology Integration Demonstration Base, which is jointly funded by Guangzhou and Huangpu district, has supported 18 investment projects with more than 100 million yuan.

By the end of 2021, Huangpu district had introduced and supported a total of 10 cultural talent studios or cultural talent creative projects.

The construction of a library city in Huangpu has reached the national leading standard of having a library per 7,000 people, including one main library, two directly affiliated branch libraries, 20 neighborhood and community branch libraries, 24 branch libraries jointly built with social forces, 144 community (village) comprehensive service centers, 105 campus service spots, 28 service spots jointly built with social forces, as well as more than 100 staff bookstores.

By the end of 2021, Huangpu had an area of 1,995.27 sqm of public cultural facilities per 10,000 people. Its cultural centers served more than 1.01 million people a year and its libraries served 2.4 million readers. Volunteers in the district offered cultural services over 2,698 times, with a cumulative service time of 36,000 volunteer hours. There are also currently seven registered museums in the district, including four non-State-owned museums.

In the past five years, 309 literary and artistic works by Huangpu citizens have been awarded, including 16 national awards and 109 gold awards.

By the end of 2021, Huangpu had a total of 701 ancient relics covering 10 categories, 83 cultural relics protection units, 33 intangible cultural heritage items, 33 representative inheritors of intangible cultural heritage items, and six municipal intangible cultural heritage inheritance bases.
