Guangzhou COVID-19 Update for Sept 21

On Sept 21, Guangzhou reported two people with asymptomatic cases, one of whom had already been quarantined as a close contact of a previously confirmed COVID-19 case, and the other was detected as a yellow health code holder who completed home health monitoring. Guangzhou also reported eight imported confirmed cases and one imported asymptomatic case, with one previously reported imported asymptomatic case being a confirmed COVID-19 case.

As of 24:00 Sept 21, a total of 7,046 positive cases have been reported in the city. These include 3,502 confirmed cases (2,455 imported cases and 1,047 local cases), among which, 94 cases are still being treated in hospitals, and 3,544 asymptomatic cases (3,275 imported cases and 269 local cases), with 58 of those cases still under medical observation.

Details of the 2 Local Asymptomatic Cases

The first patient is a 38-year-old woman who lives in Kuangquan sub-district in Yuexiu district. She is a close contact of a local asymptomatic case reported on Sept 18 and was identified in a centralized quarantine facility. The patient tested positive for COVID-19 on the evening of Sept 20 and on the morning of Sept 21 and was transferred to Guangzhou No 8 People's Hospital for quarantine and treatment.

The second patient is a 58-year-old woman who lives in a Beijing sub-district in Yuexiu district. She is a yellow health code holder who was exposed by a local asymptomatic case reported on Sept 18 and was under home health monitoring. The patient tested positive for COVID-19 on Sept 21 twice. She has been transferred to Guangzhou No 8 People's Hospital for isolation and treatment.

Details of the 8 Imported Confirmed Cases and 1 Imported Asymptomatic Case

Four imported confirmed cases traveled from Canada, Myanmar, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the United States, two from Thailand, and the other two from Saudi Arabia. The one imported asymptomatic case traveled from Singapore.

Upon their arrival in Guangzhou, all the imported confirmed and asymptomatic cases were transferred to hotels for centralized quarantine. They tested positive for COVID-19 during quarantine and were transferred to Guangzhou No 8 People's Hospital for isolation and treatment.

Report and Get Tested Immediately If You Have Taken These Trains

For safety concerns, if you have taken trains K597, K643, T881, Z135, Z891, K83, and K1005/K1008 on Sept 17 or 18, please report to your community committee and take two tests within three days. Monitor your health and see a doctor immediately if you feel unwell.
