The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Biosafety Innovation Port in Guangzhou Science City is expected to give a strong boost to the biomedical industry in Huangpu district upon its opening.
Construction on the project started in August 2021 and is scheduled to be completed by the end of June 2023. The first phase of the project covers an area of 36,000 square meters, with the tallest factory reaching 7 meters.
The project is divided into two phases, with construction currently about 65 percent completed. There are five standard factories in the first phase. To date, the main structure of factories No 1, 4, and 5 has been capped, while factories No 2 and 3 are under construction.
After completion, the port will introduce more biosafety high-tech enterprises to Huangpu, as well as build a professional bio-industry development innovation carrier and a base for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. It will also help Guangzhou build itself into an international scientific and technological innovation hub to realize industrial upgrading and transformation.
