Source: GZFAO | Updated : 2022-07-11

On July 10, Guangzhou reported 2 local confirmed cases and 1 local asymptomatic case, 2 imported confirmed cases and 1 imported asymptomatic case.

As of 24:00 July 10, 2022, a total of 6,255 positive cases have been reported in the city. These include 2,984 confirmed cases (2,024 imported cases and 960 local cases), among which, 60 cases are still being treated in hospital; and 3,271 asymptomatic cases (3,012 imported cases and 259 local cases), among which, 26 cases are still under medical observation.

Local Cases and Local Asymptomatic Case Details

The 10th patient is a 36-year-old Chinese woman who lives in Xilang Community, Dongjiao Subdistrict, Liwan District, and was detected in the PCR testing conducted for people in risk areas.

The 11th patient is a 29-year-old Chinese woman who lives in Chunlan Garden, Baiyun District, and was detected in the PCR testing conducted for people in risk areas.

The asymptomatic patient (the ninth one) is a 50-year-old Chinese man who lives in Banghua Xingji Plaza, Liwan District, and was detected in the PCR testing conducted for close contacts under quarantine.

All these patients were transferred to Guangzhou No. 8 People's Hospital for quarantine and treatment after testing positive for COVID-19. Their conditions are stable. Identified close contacts and secondary close contacts have been quarantined. Places with exposure risks have been cordoned off and disinfected.

Epidemiological investigation findings and genome sequencing showed that the 11th patient was infected with Omicron BA.2.2, different from the BA.2.3 strain infecting the previous 10 patients. Thus it can be judged that Guangzhou is dealing with another transmission chain related with people from other cities.

In accordance with epidemiological investigation findings and COVID-19 containment requirements, the expert panel designated some areas of Jingxi Subdistrict as high-, medium- and low-risk zones:

High-risk zones: Buildings 16, 17, 18 and 19, Chunlan Garden, Jingxi Road, Jingxi Subdistrict.

Medium-risk zones: other areas of Chunlan Garden except buildings 16, 17, 18 and 19.

Low-risk zones: other areas of Jingxi Subdistrict (excluding the high- and medium-risk zones).
