Huangpu launches new village demonstration belt project

Construction on a new village demonstration belt in Jiufo, a sub-district in Guangzhou's Huangpu district, started on June 26.

This project, led by the local government and participated in by State-owned enterprises, is a vivid example of Huangpu's practice of revitalizing old parts of the city with high quality.

Jiufo sub-district is located north of China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City. Seven areas in the sub-district, including Liantang village, Xiezhuang village, Yantang village, Yi'er Society of Shanlong, Shiwo Cave of Shanlong, Jiufo Society, and Chonggang village, will be involved in the transformation project.

According to the plan, 110 hectares of scattered land will be transformed to meet the multiple goals of cultural inheritance, ecological protection, industry and city integration, as well as village vitalization. A demonstration window for urban and rural integration is expected to be built.

The first phase of the project covers a total area of 1.5 hectares and boasts an investment of 400 million yuan ($59.68 million). It is aimed at establishing three functional zones: a traditional village protection zone, an industrial high-quality development park, and a high-quality living area.

In addition, five rural vitalization projects, including Liantang rural vitalization, Jifei Super Farm, and Jiufo Flower Sea, will be launched, while five high-quality characteristic projects and three modern high-tech industries will also be introduced.

The Landscape Corridor project and the Connecting Waterway project of Jiutai Road, as well as three municipal transportation projects are also included in the plan.

Six primary and secondary schools, eight kindergartens, three hospitals, as well as other public service facilities are projected to be laid out in the area.
