China-Singapore Smart Park settles in Huangpu

A ceremony was held in Guangzhou's Huangpu district on June 26 to mark the 12th anniversary of China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City's foundation laying and construction, as well as the opening of China-Singapore Smart Park.

China-Singapore Smart Park is one of the key projects for China and Singapore to enhance their cooperation in Guangzhou Knowledge City. It will become a new engine for the two parties to expand their cooperation to fields like digital economy, green development, biomedicine, and smart city construction.

Covering an area of 180,000 square meters, the park boasts a total investment of 1.4 billion yuan ($208.7 million). It is composed of 12 buildings with different functional characteristics in four communities: Exhibition and Exchange Area; Industrial Incubation Area; Industrial Acceleration Area; and Living Supporting Area.

Three ministers from China and Singapore witnessed the foundation laying of China-Singapore Smart Park on Dec 6, 2018. In just over three years, the park has finished the construction of China-Singapore International Joint Research Institute's headquarters and introduced more than 60 industrialization projects.

Many key projects have settled in the park, including those by SP Group, Lion TCR, the China-Singapore Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base, as well as the Guangzhou Concord Medical Technology and Innovation Center.

Guangzhou Knowledge City is famous worldwide for its thriving strategic emerging industries after 12 years of development. It has established world-class clusters in the bio-pharmaceutical industry, integrated circuit industrialization, and the new energy automobile industry. It is making every effort to build itself into an industrialization pioneer with the strongest innovation capacity in nanotechnology in China.
