A Dragon Boat Festival event was held in Huangpu district on May 31, it included art performances, ancient Chinese culture popularization, and a sachet-making tutorial.

During the event, handicraft expert Huang Yanxia taught people how to make Dragon Boat Festival sachets. She introduced the functions of different medicinal fillings and gave a general overview of the art form, shedding light on the culture surrounding the Dragon Boat Festival in the process.

Cutting fabrics, sewing sachets, and wrapping spices, Huang taught visitors how to make a variety of sachets shapes. After a while, a delicate dumpling-shaped sachet was completed.

Dragon Boat Festival sachets not only have the effects of refreshing the mind and repelling mosquitoes but also signify peace and fortune.

While making the sachets, Huang introduced the main Chinese herbal medicines, efficacy, and usage in the sachet from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, and suggested that people match the filling materials in the sachet according to their own needs.

Li Boyun, a literary historian from Huangpu district, explained traditional Chinese dragon boat culture to visitors.

In the hanfu (a traditional Chinese style of clothing) show and catwalk, six performers wore hanfu on the stage, showcasing the charm of traditional Chinese culture to the audiences through traditional Chinese etiquette and dance.
