Huangpu attracts talents with preferential policies, services

China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City recently witnessed the settlement of its first batch of doctoral and postdoctoral entrepreneurship projects.

These six cutting-edge projects, which stood out in national and provincial innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, involve national strategic emerging industries like biomedicine, electronic information, new energy, as well as new materials.

Leaders of these projects chose Guangzhou High-Tech Industrial Development Zone to start their careers due to its considerate services and preferential policies.

In recent years, Guangzhou High-Tech Industrial Development Zone has introduced 20 specialized policies to help talents settle down in this area and pursue their professional goals, especially those with international education backgrounds and those with doctoral degrees.

"Authorities of the zone know what entrepreneurs need. Many talents in the science and technology field have one thing in common: most of them are good at technologies but need help in providing professional services in line with the needs of the market," according to Zheng Houming, the secretary-general of the Guangdong Association for Promoting the Development of Doctoral and Postdoctoral Talents. 

To help them solve this problem, the zone launched the "Doctor Plus" program, aiming at boosting the advancement of startups with the guidance of a professional team.

"The zone's staff members showed the greatest patience to entrepreneurs and helped to solve problems on time," said Song Shuo, the co-founder of Guangdong Guna Technology, a company that possesses seven patents in nanofilm materials in the United States and the world.
