Computing power, algorithms to bolster Huangpu's digital economy

Guangzhou's Huangpu district will focus on the three key elements of data, computing power, and algorithms to develop its digital economy.

The inaugural Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Huangpu) International Algorithm Competition Launching Meeting and Huangpu Digital Economy Summit were held in the Huangpu district on May 18.

At the meeting, the 10 Policies of Computing Power and Algorithms were released, the first Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Huangpu) International Algorithm Calculation Competition was launched, and the unveiling ceremony of Pazhou Lab (Huangpu) was held.

The 10 Policies of Computing Power and Algorithms is the first national-level preferential support document for the digital economy industry in development zones in China, covering eight aspects, such as strengthening the leadership of high-end projects, supporting original technological innovation, building a public service platform, as well as empowering industrial transformation and upgrading.

Huangpu district will provide rewards from the three aspects of original technological innovation, industrial digital upgrading, and talent introduction, with the maximum subsidies reaching 10 million yuan ($1.5 million), 30 million yuan, and 100 million yuan respectively.

At the meeting, Pazhou Lab (Huangpu) was unveiled and it settled in China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City.

A group of talents in the fields of algorithmic mathematical foundation, artificial intelligence, and future communications will be gathered at the laboratory to promote Huangpu's original innovations in the field of the digital economy.

Hosted by Pazhou Lab (Huangpu), the 2022 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Huangpu) International Algorithm Calculation Competition covers smart manufacturing, smart medical care, smart cities, smart transportation, and other industries, with a total prize of 10 million yuan, which is one of the highest prizes in the field of algorithms at home and abroad.
