Huangpu achieves remarkable results in scientific innovation

In recent years, Guangzhou's Huangpu district has promoted the transformation and upgrading of its manufacturing industry, forming industry clusters spanning the automobile, electronics, biomedicine, new-generation information technology, new materials, as well as high-end equipment manufacturing sectors.

In 2021, the district's R&D investment intensity exceeded 5.7 percent, reaching the international advanced level. Its technological innovation capability has ranked first among China's economic development zones for four consecutive years, becoming an important driving force for regional economic development.

Huangpu's R&D investment has been at the forefront in Guangzhou for several years, resulting in it having strong technological strength, development potential, and core competitiveness.

Huangpu has four major strategic innovation and development platforms: China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City, Guangzhou Science City, Guangzhou International Bio Island, as well as Huangpu Lingang Economic Development Zone. It has also been promoting the construction of a comprehensive national science center and improving enterprises' innovative ability.

To date, there are 14 companies listed on the Science and Technology Innovation Board in Guangzhou, eight of which are located in Huangpu district, covering emerging fields like biomedicine, new materials, as well as high-end equipment, with a total market value of more than 40 billion yuan ($5.9 billion). The competitiveness of listed companies in Huangpu ranks first among China's economic development zones.
