Construction moves forward on metro lines passing Huangpu

Construction of three metro lines passing Guangzhou's Huangpu district has been moving forward, local media outlets reported on May 8.

The east extension section of Guangzhou Metro Line 5 has finished 58 percent of its civil works, while 70 percent of the second phase of Metro Line 7 has been completed and 48 percent of the second phase of Metro Line 13 has been completed.

The east extension section of Metro Line 5 stretches 9.76 kilometers from Wenchong Station to Huangpu Passenger Station, with a designated operation speed of 90 km per hour. It has six stations, of which three have finished construction on their main structure. 

The 22-km second phase of Metro Line 7 is fully underground and features 11 stations. Passengers can transit to other metro lines at seven of these stations. The designated operation speed is 80 km/h. Four of these stations have been capped, as well as have started mechanical and electrical construction.

The east-west second phase of Metro Line 13 has finished the main structure construction of three stations, while another 19 stations are still undergoing civil works and another station is now preparing for opening. 

Upon operation, the line will connect several key developing areas, such as the Baiyun Lake area, Zhujiang New Town, Guangzhou International Financial City and Huangpu Lingang Economic Zone.
