Guangzhou is now low-risk for COVID-19

On April 21, Guangzhou reported 5 local confirmed cases (2 were previously identified as asymptomatic cases), 1 asymptomatic case with links to COVID-19 patients outside Guangdong, 1 imported confirmed case (previously identified as asymptomatic case) and 5 imported asymptomatic cases. Eleven COVID-19 patients have been newly discharged, while 228 still remain in the hospital.

As of 24:00 April 21, 2022, a total of 5,389 positive cases have been reported in the city. These include 2,601 confirmed cases (1,810 imported cases and 791 local cases) and 2,788 asymptomatic cases (2,537 imported cases and 251 local cases).

Details of Local Cases and the Asymptomatic Case with Links to COVID-19 Patients outside Guangdong

The 1st patient is a 5-year-old girl who lives in Xiangjing Garden, Huangshi Subdistrict, Baiyun District.

The 2nd patient is a 7-year-old Chinese boy who lives in Qiaode Garden, Tongde Subdistrict, Baiyun District

The 1st and the 2nd patients were previously identified as asymptomatic cases and have now been diagnosed as confirmed cases.

The 3rd patient is a 49-year-old Chinese woman.

The 4th patient is a 35-year-old Chinese woman.

The 5th patient is a 50-year-old Chinese woman.

The 3rd-5th patients all live in Dagang Village, Baiyunhu Subdistrict, Baiyun District, and were found among quarantined close contacts.

All patients have been transferred to Guangzhou No. 8 People's Hospital for quarantine and treatment

Details of the Asymptomatic Case with Links to COVID-19 Patients outside Guangdong
The patient is a 49-year-old Chinese man who lives alone in Dalang Village, Baiyunhu Subdistrict, Baiyun District. He works at the Dalang Railway Freight Depot. The patient was detected among people with links to key sites. His result in the daily nucleic acid test had been negative since April 13. On April 21, he tested positive in both the preliminary and confirmatory testing. He was immediately transferred to Guangzhou No. 8 People's Hospital for quarantine and treatment.
According to the epidemiological investigation and genetic sequencing results, he is a local asymptomatic patient with links to patients outside Guangdong. Key sites have been cordoned off.

Guangzhou is now low-risk for COVID-19.

As 3 medium-risk areas in Baiyun District are downgraded to low risk, the asterisk (*) has been removed from the travel code of Guangzhou residents.

Primary schools and kindergartens across the city, as well as middle schools in Baiyun district (except those in lockdown and partial lockdown zones) will resume offline classes in an orderly manner from April 25.
