Agricultural technology boosts Huangpu's rural revitalization

Updated : 2022-04-06

By developing agricultural technology, Knowledge City (Guangzhou) Investment Group, a State-owned enterprise in Huangpu district, has built a complete agricultural industry chain in Jingxia village, boosting the rural revitalization in Huangpu district.

Jinxia Nano Agricultural Park is a part of the Knowledge City (Guangzhou) Investment Group's 1,000 mu (67 hectares) of transferred land. The park's experimental field was planted with newly introduced basmati rice this year. This variety of rice has high resistant starch, and it is especially desired by diabetic patients because it can keep blood sugar stable.

A soilless plant factory, located next to the experimental field, produces organically grown veggies. According to the factory's manager, this greenhouse produces roughly 85,000 metric tons of vegetables every year, with an output value of up to 2 million yuan ($314,000), which is 20 times more than the typical planting model's output value.

Rural revitalization has also brought prosperity to the tourism industry. In Jingxia village, tourists can take pictures on the small train, pick fruits and vegetables in the vegetable garden, and take hot air balloons to have a bird's-eye view of the idyllic scenery.

"In the future, we will continue to open up a complete modern agricultural industry, and provide more value-added solutions for rural industries and rural revitalization," said Zhao Yu, deputy director of the Rural Revitalization Office of Knowledge City (Guangzhou) Investment Group.
