Huangpu to invest $9m for cultural heritage protection

According to the Huangpu district finance bureau, Huangpu district will devote 58 million yuan ($9 million) to strengthening cultural heritage protection.

The district will invest 5.57 million yuan in cultural heritage protection funds in 454 immovable cultural relics to ensure safety inspection, daily accident handling, status assessment, and real-time monitoring.

In addition, a special fund of 52.7 million yuan has been arranged to ensure the daily operation and maintenance of museums like the Memorial Hall of the Revolution of 1911, the memorial hall of the old site of the Huangpu Military Academy, Nanhai Temple, and the Guangzhou Maritime Museum. It will also be used to support the museums in holding various cultural heritage publicity and education activities. More than eight cultural and historical exhibition activities will be launched with the special fund to popularize the cultural connotation and historical heritage of the museums.

In addition, the district recently organized a training meeting for those responsible for the protection and management of historical and cultural heritage in Huangpu district, in which the requirements for the protection and utilization of historical and cultural heritage were detailed.

Through this training, the protection work of historical and cultural sites in Huangpu district has been promoted.
