The government work report of Guangzhou was released on Jan 25, which clarifies the development directions of Huangpu district in 2022.
China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City (CSGKC) will be established into a national knowledge city with international influence under the regulations that were approved at the 39th session of the Standing Committee of the 13th Guangdong Provincial People's Congress on Jan 16.
The preparations for the construction of Huangpu University will also be advanced this year. The university will cover around 300 mu (20 hectares) in CSGKC and encompass teaching buildings, office buildings, lab buildings, a library, as well as a training center.
CSGKC and Guangzhou Science City are encouraged to enhance collaborative development with Zhuhai's Hengqin in the traditional Chinese medicine and cultural tourism sectors, as well as with Shenzhen's Qianhai in the modern service sector. Construction of the Guangzhou-Qingyuan Special Economic Cooperation Zone and the Guangzhou-Hong Kong Smart Manufacturing Cooperation Zone is also outlined in the report.
Seeking to become a sci-tech innovation center with global influence, the report supports Guangzhou Lab in the research of major frontier issues. It also urges the accelerated construction of the human cell lineage project and the large-scale scientific facility related to aircraft tire dynamics.

In terms of transportation, the preliminary work of the Shayuzhou Tunnel and the Hualong-Western Huangpu Tunnel will be pushed forward. Construction of the Yuzhou Tunnel, the Zengcheng-Tianhe Expressway, and the Conghua-Huangpu Expressway will also be advanced.
